Man arrested in sexual assault
Police arrested a 40-year-old man after he allegedly surprised a woman in her home and sexually assaulted her yesterday morning in Waikiki. Police said said the woman, 37, was showering when she heard a knock at the door.
She told police she answered thinking it was her boyfriend, but another man was standing outside.
He sexually assaulted her in the room and fled.
Police later arrested a man on suspicion of third-degree sex assault and first-degree burglary.
Kunia standoff ends with arrest
A 25-year-old armed with a knife was arrested today after a standoff lasting more than two hours when he barricaded himself in his Kunia Homestead home shortly after 9:30 p.m.
His family told police he had been acting irrational, hadn't slept in two days, had a knife and might be using drugs.
The SWAT team and hostage negotiators were called, police said, the man was arrested at 12:11 a.m.
The man was taken to a hospital for psychiatric treatment, police said. No criminal charges were filed.
