Search called off after diver says he's not in trouble

Honolulu Fire Department divers ended their search today after a diver who rescuers thought had run into trouble in the water turned out to be fine.

The fire department searched offshore of the Lana'i Lookout at midday after receiving a report that a fisherman was lost in waters just past Hanauma Bay on Kalaniana'ole Highway.

A full rescue operation was launched, including the Air 1 helicopter unit and personnel on jet skis. But it turned out the fisherman was actually a diver who said he dived near the lookout all the time.
