FISHING

• Catch of the day: Pajaro Valley (Calif.) Gamefish Club moved into first place but had to share the limelight with the Hokulia Anglers on the second day of the 42nd Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament in waters off Kona.

Pajaro Valley has 1,050 points, moving ahead of first-day leader Team Odyssey of Northern Ireland with 900. Hokulia, thanks to angler Mike Harper, leaped into third with 884 points.

Harper caught a 513-pound Pacific blue marlin worth 513 points, plus an additional 371 points for various bonuses.

Twenty other marlin were tagged and released, and two ahi were caught — bringing the two-day total catch to 40.

Competition resumes tomorrow.
