Litiana Damuni, a 1997 Kahuku High School graduate, has been cleared to practice with the University of Hawai'i Wahine volleyball team, bringing the roster up to 13 players.

Damuni was an all-region right-side hitter for Salt Lake City Community College. Her last collegiate match was Nov. 24, 1999, when the Bruins lost to Miami Dade in the NJCAA championship, 11-15, 15-9, 14-16, 15-9, 18-16. Damuni was third on that team in kills, blocks and digs.

"She's a pure outside hitter," UH coach Dave Shoji said, "and she certainly gives us some depth at that position that we don't have right now."

Damuni took classes at Salt Lake last fall, the came back to La'ie and attended Windward Community College. Rebekah Cravens, who played for UH last year, talked her into calling Shoji about a walk-on position.

"I've thought about playing at UH forever," Damuni said, "just because I was from here, I watched it and I was a player myself. I thought one day I'd like to play over there."
