'Third Watch' cast plays on 'Weakest Link'

COCONUT WIRELESS: Anthony Ruivivar and his co-stars of NBC TV's "Third Watch" will be contestants on "The Weakest Link" on Sept. 17. The game show episode airs at 7 p.m., with "Third Watch" following at 8 p.m., on NBC (KHNL here). It's premiere night for "Third Watch," which will be on an hour earlier in its new time slot. Anthony's dad, Tony Ruivivar, has booked his group, the Society of Seven, at the Las Vegas Hilton starting Sept. 4. Through the end of this month, the SOS are performing Thursdays through Saturdays at the Royal Lahaina Tennis Stadium in Ka'anapali. One night, during the group's "Thriller" segment, Ruivivar heard screams and howls, thinking it was the audience responding to the mock terror. In fact, a woman was screeching because a centipede was crawling up her leg. Yep, it was a thriller ...

RANDOM NOTES: Jewl Anguay — who earned her performing stripes with the Castle Performing Arts Company and who was a Kim understudy in the "Miss Saigon" company that played here — has been tapped to play Nala in "The Lion King," still in Los Angeles. She leaves Honolulu in early September and hits the stage (Pantages Theatre) later in the month. The L.A. company stays put till November, then starts on a national tour. Anguay presently is doing filming for Square USA here ...

About 110 showed up for the Tuesday night debut of the Honolulu Jazz Quartet at Studio 6, according to member John Kolivas. Robert Pennybacker rented lights for the room, which resembled a New York jazz club, and musicians in attendance included Kapono Beamer, Jeannette Trevias of the band Honolulu, and Robert Shinoda of Nueva Vida. The quartet does a hana hou on Sept. 19 ...
