Film festival drive under way

The 21st Hawaii International Film Festival, set for this fall, now is in the midst of its 'Ohana Membership Drive, through Sept. 15.

Festival membership supports the annual festival and enables a number of perks, including free year's membership to the Movie Museum, one coupon good for a free DVD or video rental with the purchase of two DVD/video rentals at Blockbuster Video, and a free Starbucks beverage.

Members also have priority ticket selection before the general public, for screenings of festival movies, discounts on some ticket purchases and a subscription to Subtitles, the festival's quarterly newsletter.

Memberships provide 20 percent of festival financing and enable the organization to secure and schedule films and invite filmmakers to events.

Membership levels vary; visit hiff.org or call 528-3456, ext. 16, for specifics.
