'Winnie-the-Pooh' takes to stage

Advertiser Staff

Kids are welcome to look in on Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends as they search for the mysterious Heffalump and Eeyore's missing tail in a musical play presented by Honolulu Theatre for Youth.

HTY begins its 47th season with the childhood classic, "Winnie-the-Pooh," based on the stories of A.A. Milne. The play also includes tales of Piglet's mistaken bath and Rabbit's first apology, all woven together with 10 songs by musical theater songwriter Allan Jay Friedman.

The HTY season, which runs to next May, will offer seven family-friendly plays in all.

Family performances of "Winnie-the-Pooh" will be 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 8, 15, 23 and 29 at Leeward Community College. A sign-interpreted performance is set for 4:30 p.m. Sept. 29. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for students with a high school or college ID, and $5 for children ages 3-12 and people 60 and older. Children age 2 and under are admitted with a free ticket. For information or to order tickets, call 839-9885.
