Fun House
Dim sum no fun on a ride in Waimalu

One day, as we were driving through Waimalu with my family, I mentioned to my husband that I had wanted to stop by the Cha Wah Kam Noodle Factory. Upon hearing this, my son, 4, exclaimed, "Yeah, let's go to there!"

I wondered why he seemed so excited, but I thought that maybe he just really wanted to eat some manapua or something.

I was really caught off guard when he asked me what kind of games I wanted to play when we got there. I told him that we were going there to have lunch, not to play games.

Now it was his turn to be confused, he asked, "Why doesn't this factory have any games?"

I answered "Because it's a restaurant, that's why."

After thinking about this, he announced that he no longer wanted to go to this factory and that he'd much rather go to another factory ... Fun Factory. I finally realized that it wasn't the dim sum that he was so excited about earlier. Now he knows better: that not all factories are created equal.
