Hawaii State Federal Credit Union awarded $25,000 in scholarships to the following college students and recent high school graduates: Maile R. Arvin of Kane'ohe, Cristin Noel K. Castro of Kane'ohe, Grace Y. Chang of Honolulu, Michelle K.S. Fong of Honolulu, Christine M. Izuo of Kailua, Kyle K. Leong of Kane'ohe, Rena Mae N. Reid of 'Aiea, Sheri R. Sakagawa of Honolulu, Julia A. Shimizu of Wai'anae, Trisha N. Shinsato of Kane'ohe, Christina K.H. Sing of Honolulu, Amy R.G. Spindt of Honolulu and Sean D. Spriggs of Mililani.

The Mililani Sunrise Rotary Club awarded $1,000 scholarships to the following recent Mililani High School graduates: Lori Ann Wong, Lisa Yanagida, Brad Kageno, Kelli Ansai, Megan Tavares, Mariel Romero, Lyndsey Russell and Brenda Soria.

Dr. K.S. Tom of Manoa and Minnie Ho Pang of 'Alewa Heights were recognized as the Model Chinese Father and Mother of the Year, respectively, by the United Chinese Society.

Whitworth College awarded $4,000 scholarships to Dawn Bolos of 'Ewa Beach and Tabitha Tolentino of Waipahu.
