Man arrested on contempt warrants

A 24-year-old man who was wanted on contempt warrants was arrested yesterday afternoon in 'Ewa Beach.

Nelson Abiley was the subject of a CrimeStoppers search after two Family Court contempt warrants and a felony contempt of court warrant were issued against him. Abiley has nine felony convictions for robbery, assault, burglary, promoting prison contraband, escape and car theft.

He was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. after police received a call about a suspicious man at Pupu Street near Pohakupuna Road in 'Ewa Beach. Abiley was arrested without incident.


Moanalua robbery suspect arrested

Police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the robbery of a Moanalua miniature golf course Sunday night.

Police said the Jungle River Mini Golf course at 98-1101 Moanalua Rd. was closed for business when a robber threatened an employee with a knife and stole money about 10:20 p.m. Witnesses followed the robber as he ran away, but he threatened one of them with the knife, police said.

The man was arrested later on suspicion of first-degree robbery and terroristic threatening.


Fire leaves man in critical condition

A 20-year-old man remained in critical condition at the Straub Medical Center yesterday after suffering severe burns during a flash fire at an auto body shop near the airport Sunday evening.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at the Auto World Specialists on 3047 Koapaka St. about 8:30 p.m. Fire officials said the man was removing gas from his car when it ignited.

A hospital spokeswoman said the man suffered burns on more than 90 percent of his body. He was in the intensive care unit today but was able to talk, she said.
