Injured players released from hospital

Advertiser Staff

Pac-Five quarterback Jordan Tani, who was injured after taking a hit to the throat in Saturday's game against Dana Hills (Calif.), was released from the hospital, coach Don Botelho said.

"He just has a sore throat right now," Botelho said. Since Tani was the backup to McShane Dator (out with a thumb injury), defensive back Ryan Leong was pressed into action. However, Leong will not make this weekend's trip to Honoka'a because of a family function. Another defensive back, Chad Rayno, is likely to play quarterback, Botelho said.

Dana Hills linebacker/running back Joel Martin left the game by ambulance after complaining of numbness on his left side. He was released from the hospital and was all right, Botelho said.

After Dana Hills' 30-14 win against Pac-Five, the teams had a potluck dinner in the stadium's hospitality room, where the players exchanged gifts. The next day, the teams had a picnic at Kapi'olani Park. "Our parents put out a spread for them," Botelho said. "It was a good weekend for both teams."
