Duke Sardinha returns to Pepperdine
Advertiser Staff
Pepperdine University junior infielder Duke Sardinha returned to classes yesterday, effectively turning down a $100,000 bonus offered by the Colorado Rockies, according to his father Dexter Sardinha.
The Rockies drafted Sardinha in the 41st round in the June draft. Because the 1998 Kamehameha Schools graduate redshirted one year, he was eligible for the draft after his sophomore season.
The bonus offer was consistent for a fifth- or sixth-round selection. Sardinha becomes eligible for the draft again in June.
