Tell us all about your summer

Advertiser Staff

The 'Ohana section is asking kids and teens to do something that young people have being doing practically since school was invented: Write an essay on what you did this summer.

But this time, there's a perk attached: Your letter may be published in KidNews, the page for young readers, in the 'Ohana section of the Sunday Advertiser.

Tell us about the coolest thing you did, whether you actually had a vacation from school or not. Maybe you learned a new skill or hobby, or tried something you always wanted to do. Or you volunteered, worked, joined a program or traveled somewhere. Or maybe you hung out with friends, or made new ones.

Whatever you did, pop a note to KidNews, postmarked by Sept. 5, and we'll publish parts of as many letters as we can in a coming issue.

If you've got an interesting, clear photo from your summer activities, send that along, too, although it's not required. Just make sure it's a spare copy, because we can't return any pictures.

Write: Summer Scoop, 'Ohana section, The Honolulu Advertiser, P.O. Box 3110, Honolulu, HI 96802, or fax 535-8170. If you're 13 or older, reach us by e-mail (ohana@honoluluadvertiser.com). Please include your full name, age, school, hometown, name of parent(s) or guardian and phone number.
