Man says roommate spied with cameras

Police have opened a felony investigation after a 21-year-old man claimed his roommate used hidden cameras to spy on him in their shared McCully apartment.

Police originally classified the case as a misdemeanor after the 21-year-old man found a video camera in a clock in the living room of their apartment May 23.

Two days later, the man found a video camera in a clock in his bedroom. Police conducted a follow-up investigation and reclassified the case to a felony. Police said the man's roommate, a 37-year-old man, is under investigation for violation of privacy. He has not been charged.

Woman arrested in 2 Waianae assault cases

Police arrested a 28-year-old woman after she allegedly punched her mother and struck her boyfriend with a cleaver in separate arguments in Wai'anae this week.

According to police, the woman argued with her 49-year-old mother and punched her in the face Tuesday at their Ala Hema Street home.

Two days later, the woman struck her 30-year-old boyfriend with a cleaver during an argument over moving furniture.

While the boyfriend and the mother waited for an ambulance to treat his injuries, the woman emerged from the home holding the cleaver and threatened the two with death.

The woman was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, first-degree terroristic threatening and domestic abuse.

Ala Moana area attack leads to arrest

Police arrested a 26-year-old man after he allegedly attacked a 35-year-old man and stole money from him last night in the Ala Moana area.

According to police, the unprovoked attack happened at 11:30 p.m. at 1340 Kapi'olani Blvd. when the robber punched and kicked the man several times in his face.

The robber then stole money and tried to take the man's wristwatch, police said. The man was able to run away and call police. The 26-year-old man was arrested on a charge of first-degree robbery and released pending further investigation today.
