Parachutist critical after high-wind stunts

Advertiser Staff

A sport parachutist trying high-wind maneuvers this morning broke his left thighbone in a hard landing at Dillingham Field. He was transported by medical helicopter to The Queen's Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit today.

Firefighters responding to the call at about 10:35 a.m. said the man had a compund fracture to his left leg. The man suffered "a large amount of bleeding," Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Richard Soo said.

The man's identity was not released.
