• MARK POLIVKA, president of Monarch Insurance Service, has been elected chairman of the 2002 board of directors for the BISHOP MUSEUM. Other officers include vice chairmen, BERT A. KOBAYASHI, of Kobayashi Development Group, and Donald Horner, of First Hawaiian Bank; and secretary, Jennifer Goto Sabas, chief of staff for the office of U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye. Two new board members are HAUNANI APOLIONA, state Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustee, and ROBERT MORGADO, of the Maroley Media Group.

• Greg Omotoy, veteran of MORTON'S of Chicago, the worldwide chain of steak houses, has been named to head the 62nd Morton's location, its first in Hawai'i. Omotoy, new general manager and maitre d' at the restaurant that opened last week at Ala Moana Center, most recently was assigned to the Morton's location in Sacramento, Calif. The new executive chef for the Honolulu restaurant is MARC LINCOLN, most recently executive chef at The Honolulu Club.

• EDDIE FLORES JR. has been elected chairman of Filipino Community Center's board of directors. Flores is president of L & L Drive-Inn and L & L Hawaiian Barbecue.

• Hilton Hawaiian Village head PETER H. SCHALL has been selected 2001 Salesperson of the Year by the Sales and Marketing Executives of Honolulu.

Schall, who began a career with Hilton in 1965, has served in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Seattle and Pasadena, Calif.

He joined the Hilton Hawaiian Village as general manager in 1986 and currently oversees general operations of Hilton Resorts Hawai'i as senior vice president and managing director at Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa.

Schall is on the board of directors of a number of local organizations and is chairman of the Waikiki Improvement Association.

He will be honored by Sales and Marketing Executives at a special luncheon Feb. 7 at Hilton Hawaiian Village's Coral Ballroom.

• Mary Begier, of Mary Begier Realty, has been named the 2001 Realtor of the Year, the highest honor awarded by the Hawai'i Association of Realtors. The 21-year veteran of the association has been recognized for her work in government affairs and is chairwoman of the association's legislative committee. She has served as secretary of the Hawai'i Island Board of Realtors and director-at-large for the Honolulu Board of Realtors. Begier is also a member of the Federal Housing Policy Committee.
