Hang Shaka Santa on Christmas tree
Collecting Christmas ornaments is a time-honored tradition in many households, and collectors are eagerly buying up the second edition of the Friends of Honolulu City Lights ornament this year. A few of the decorations, at $16 each, remains in stores or can be obtained from the Friends group. Ornament sales help pay for the popular annual lights display on and around city offices.
The 2001 ornament shows good ol' Shaka Santa (the one who sits twiddling his feet in the Honolulu Hale fountain) and Mele (Mrs. Claus) sitting by the municipal Christmas tree. It is dated, of course, and done in a brushed gold with red and green accents. A few 2000 ornaments are still available to complete your collection.
Find the 2001 ornament at Macy's, Borders Books & Music or the Honolulu City Store at Ala Moana Center. Or send a check for $19, including shipping and handling, to Friends at P.O. Box 8877, Honolulu, HI 96830.
