AmeriCorps joins Kaua'i humanity project

Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — AmeriCorps has joined Kaua'i Habitat for Humanity to build five homes at Hanapepe.

Thirteen workers with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps in Sacramento, Calif., will help with construction through Dec. 14, and another team will join the project in January.

Habitat for Humanity helps people build their homes with the assistance of community volunteers. AmeriCorps, the domestic Peace Corps, pays $4,725 toward college or repayment of student loans in return for 1,700 hours of community service work over a 10-month period.
