The crash occurred at about 6 p.m., said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Richard Soo.

Soo said the two were not seriously injured.

The plane crashed into the yard of a residence at 4747 Anali'i Street off Kalaniana'ole Highway near Kalani High School.

Eye witnesses said the plane appeared to have swerved to avoid a group of children playing in Waialae Iki Park, and then crashed.

The houseowner called for help, a fire dispatcher said, but it was not known if anyone in the home was injured.

The plane was heading for town, witnesses said.

More details to come.
