Services were held Thursday for Petty Officer 2nd Class RANDY GLENN WHITAKER, 44, of Trinidad, Texas, the sailor reported missing Nov. 27 in the Indian Ocean. Whitaker, who was aboard the Pearl Harbor-based destroyer USS Russell, was born in Amarillo, Texas. He is survived by wife, Melinda; daughter, Lindsay; son, Ross; mother, Glenda Faye Sain; and brothers, Roger and Rodney. The USS Russell left Pearl Harbor Oct. 25 for a six-month deployment. Pearl Harbor Memorial Chapel services held; Texas services planned.

TADAO ABE, 86, of 'Ewa Beach, died Nov. 27, 2001. Born in 'Ewa. Retired from Hawaiian Electric Co., and a farmer. Survived by wife, Shitsuko; son, Thomas; daughter, Florence; brother, Tadahiro; sisters, Shizue Watanabe and Mitsue Takahashi. Private memorial services held. ARNOLD KAZUO AKAMINE, 63, of Mililani Town, died Dec. 2, 2001. Born in Waipahu. Retired Castle and Cooke carpenter.
