MidWeek executive joining Advertiser

Advertiser Staff

Ken Berry, executive vice president of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and longtime publisher of MidWeek, has been named director sales/special projects for The Honolulu Advertiser.

Berry, 58, will be responsible for special advertising projects and products for The Advertiser and will report to Mark Adkins, The Advertiser's senior vice president for marketing.

Michael J. Fisch, president and publisher of The Advertiser, announced Berry's appointment this afternoon.

"We had a need to strengthen our sales team and with Ken's skills he filled our needs perfectly," Fisch said.

Berry, who has been with MidWeek for more than 20 years, will join The Advertiser on Jan. 1.

Berry also had previously worked as editor of West Hawaii Today on the Big Island and as general manager for the Virginia Beach Sun. He was named "Media Person of the Year 2000" by the Hawaii Publisher's Association.

Berry graduated from the University of Montana in 1970 with bachelor's degrees in journalism and art.
