Home Depot set for N. Kona

KALOKO, Hawai'i — A groundbreaking and blessing will be held today for the Big Island's first Home Depot.

The store, in the Kaloko Business Park in North Kona, is scheduled to open next fall. It will have 140,000 square feet of indoor retail space and a 24,000-square-foot garden center stocked with locally grown plants.

The company says it will hire 150 to 200 workers for the Kona store.

Home Depot opened its first Hawai'i store in Iwilei in 1999, and earlier this year expanded to Pearl City and Kahului.
