Hawai'i heads to Asia travel fair
The Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau will highlight Hawai'i at the Taipei International Travel Fair beginning Saturday and ending Dec. 18 at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall.
Wei-Wei Ojiri, the bureau's vice president of developing international markets, said the bureau has attended the Taipei fair for at least 10 years.
In 1999, Hawai'i attracted 70,000 visitors from Taiwan; in 2000, that number dropped to 36,000, largely because EVA Airways and China Airlines suspended service to Hawai'i.
