Big Island summits prepare for snow storm
Associated Press
Freezing temperatures, snow, sleet and hail are in the forecast for Hawai'i but just for the summits and upper slopes of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
The National Weather Service yesterday posted a winter storm watch for the 13,000-foot summit areas on the Big Island for today, Thursday and into Friday.
People working on the summits should prepare for hazardous winterlike conditions, forecasters said.
For the lower elevations of Hawai'i, increasing shower activity is forecast for today, with temperatures between the low and mid-80s during the day and the low to mid-70s at night.
