Kamehameha Running back
Offensive Player of the Year
St. Louis School dominated the Interscholastic League of Honolulu football all-stars with 11 first-team selections.

The team was selected by the league's coaches.

Leading the way is Defensive Player of the Year Tolifili Liufau, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound junior defensive end. He anchored a defense that was tops in the ILH, allowing 177.1 yards per game. Liufau was fifth on his team with 34 total tackles, but led it with five sacks and 29 quarterback hurries. He also led the team with five forced fumbles.

The Offensive Player of the Year is Kamehameha running back Kelena Ho'okano. The 5-11, 187-pound senior led the ILH in rushing with 724 yards and tied for the league lead in scoring with 10 touchdowns. He was one of seven Warriors named to the first team.

St. Louis' Cal Lee was named Coach of the Year. He guided the Crusaders to their 16th consecutive league title and 18th overall during his tenure. He announced that this was to be his final season as coach, but a successor has yet to be named. The Crusaders finished with a 10-1-1 record, giving Lee a career record of 241-32-5 in 21 seasons.

Joining Liufau on the first-team defense are linebackers Taualai Fonoti and Timo Paepule, as well as defensive back Jonah Lakatani. Fonoti led the Crusaders in tackles with 56; Paepule was fourth with 36. Lakatani led his team with five interceptions and defended seven passes. Like Liufau, Paepule and Lakatani are juniors. Fonoti is being recruited by Division I programs.

The other linebackers are Iolani's Kala Ka'aihue and Pac-Five's Alika Durington. Other players in the secondary are Iolani's Blake Wong, Kamehameha's Tyler Perkins and Punahou's Jason Ching. Wong is a junior; the other two are seniors.

Skill position players joining Ho'okano on the first-team offense are St. Louis quarterback Bobby George, Iolani running back Teo Bennett, Iolani receiver Ikaika Goo, Pac-Five receiver Matt Friedman and St. Louis receivers Ross Dickerson and Jason Rivers. George and Rivers are juniors; the others are seniors.

The offensive line is made up of center Daniel Aipa of Iolani, guards Troy Esera of St. Louis and Enoka Lucas of Kamehameha, and tackles Mesepa Reed of St. Louis and Kekoa Vincent of Kamehameha. Lucas and Reed are being recruited by Division I schools. All are seniors, except for Aipa, a junior.
