Recipients of the Bishop Museum's Ulupono Awards this year are:

• Corporate Partners of the Year who have contributed a minimum of $10,000 for the past five years: Alexander and Baldwin Inc., Amfac Land Co. Ltd., CSX Lines Inc., Hawaiian Electric Co. and Verizon Hawai'i.

• Pacesetter Partners of the Year, contributors of $25,000 or more during 2001: Bank of Hawai'i, The Gentry Companies, Hawaiian Airlines, The Honolulu Advertiser, Meadow Gold Dairies and Dr. Lawrence K.W. Tseu.

• Heritage Award for a first-time contribution of $10,000 to $25,000: First Hawaiian Bank, KSSK-FM/Clear Channel Broadcasting, Oceanic Cable, Papa John's Pizza Hawai'i and Tesoro Hawai'i Corp.

• Chairman's Award for outstanding leadership with major fund-raising events or projects that raise awareness in the community about the museum: Kahala Shirts, McDonald's Restaurants of Hawai'i, Mutual Publishing, Royal Copenhagen, state of Hawai'i legislative branches and City & County of Honolulu Department of Finance.

• Ulupono Award for more than a decade of support: state of Hawai'i executive and legislative branches.

Five Junior League of Honolulu Members have been honored for outstanding service. They are:

• Beadie Kanahele Dawson, for demonstrating the spirit of volunteerism, value of specialized training, effectiveness of advocacy and leadership qualities developed in the league.

• Sandy Boole, who spends every Saturday at Kuhio Park Terrace in Kalihi teaching children to read and providing snacks.

• Barbra Pleadwell, responsible for much of the public outreach for "HerStory: Building Hawai'i's Community of Women." She was also instrumental in the success of the league's first annual women's conference.

• Susan Szabo, chairwoman of the Adoption Connection committee and Big Brothers/Big Sisters volunteer. She works on special projects and fund-raisers for the Friends of the Children's Justice Center.

• Carole Berg served on the League Board and chaired both the Membership & Governance and Halawai newsletter committees. She serves on the Parent-Teacher Organization for Kahala School and helps with the Waldorf School annual fund-raiser.
