Third extension for DHT's 'Annie'

Diamond Head Theatre's "Annie" has added an additional show, in an unprecedented third extension.

An additional matinee will be staged at 3 p.m. Saturday, with Kristina Sault playing the title role. The show must close Sunday, when the final 4 p.m. matinee is scheduled. Previously scheduled shows remain as announced.

Tickets, from $10 to $40, are on sale at the box office.

Keahi Conjugacion closes Blues Night

For the final KIPO Blues Night of the year, Keahi Conjugacion and her band will perform at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at Anna Bannana's, 2440 S. Beretania St.

Her musicians include Chris Vandercook, lead guitar; Fred Walker, guitar and guitar synthesizer; Gill Farias, bass; and Owen Matsui, drums.

Jeff Said No, the KIPO resident band, will be the opening act. Members are Don Russo, vocals; Gene Evans, rhythm guitar; Tom Hawley, lead guitar; Spike Bradford, bass; and Jeff Ilardi, drums. There will be dancing until 1 a.m.

Kona Brewing Company and Hawai'i Public Radio are sponsors.

Mandel's Kaua'i dates confirmed

Comedian Howie Mandel will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at the Kaua'i Marriott's Kaua'i Ballroom, to cap a three-Island holiday schedule.

Tickets are $27 at Big Kmart, Foodland, Larry's Music, Progressive Expressions, Hanalei Surf Company and the hotel. Charge by phone: Ticket Plus at 526-4400.

'Circus' coming to Kennedy Theatre

Jim Gamble and His Puppets will bring a family show, "Circus," to Kennedy Theatre at University of Hawai'i-Manoa, with performances at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 12, and 2 p.m. Jan. 13.

The show includes a variety of animal acts created through the magic of puppetry. It's a show that has toured South Korea and Japan, and was earlier featured at "Open House at the Hollywood Bowl."

Tickets: $9 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, military, UH faculty and staff, $7 for children and non-UH students and $4 for UH students with valid ID. Information: 956-7655.


Symphony features Beethoven's Ninth

The Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Samuel Wong, will perform Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 29 and 4 p.m. Dec. 30 at Blaisdell Concert hall.

The program also will include Bach's Suite No. 3, D Major.

Soloists will include sopranos Lea Woods and Lorna Mount, tenor Daniel Weeks, baritone Quinn Kelsey, as well as the Honolulu Symphony Chorus. Wong also will conduct "Concert Conversations" an hour prior to curtain.
