Cocaine charge for victim’s boyfriend

Police have charged a 52-year-old Kaimuki man with cocaine possession while they were investigating the death of his girlfriend.

Francis Mori, 52, is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail on the drug charge.

Mori has denied causing the death of his girlfriend, 41-year-old Caroline Ducate, who fell from the 11th floor of the Ohana Waikiki Surf East on Thursday.

He passed a polygraph test, said homicide Lt. Bill Kato.


1 of 2 missing parrots is returned

Punky the missing parrot has been found.

Owner Irwin Wantman, who reported the macaw and an eclectus parrot named Angel missing last Thursday, said a parrot fancier called him this morning after The Advertiser published a story about the missing birds.

Wantman said the man told him he had paid another man $100 for the bird, which Wantman says is worth $2,000.


Gunman knocks at King Street home

A masked gunman knocked at a King Street apartment early Saturday and attacked the resident, police said. No one was hurt.

The 38-year-old resident opened his apartment door at 2204 S. King St. at 5:24 a.m. to find a man in a ski mask holding a gun, police said.

He grabbed the intruder's arm, and a round was fired in the scuffle. The suspect dropped the gun and fled. Police searched the area and recovered the gun and ski mask.


Driver stabbed in fight over parking

Police opened an attempted murder case after a fight Saturday night at the Aloha Tower parking lot.

A man, 42, yelled at another driver for taking a parking spot around 7 p.m., police said

Three men — ages 21, 23 and 25 — attacked the man. Police said the man suffered knife wounds and puncture wounds to the head and was listed in serious condition.
