Police have charged an 18-year-old man in connection with an attack on a guard at the Hawai'i Youth Correctional Facility on Sunday.
Police charged Kevin Kealoha with second-degree assault and set his bail at $20,000.
Police said Kealoha was allegedly seen tossing a chair at the surveillance camera at 11:10 a.m. He also threw a water cooler at a TV, breaking the picture tube, police said.
Then he and another youth prisoner locked themselves in a storage room and tampered with the fire sprinkler system, flooding the area, police said.
A corrections officer forced open the door and ordered the two to lie on the ground, police said. Kealoha allegedly punched the officer, then threatened to kill him and another officer.
