Teams ready for Yahoo!: Last year's NIT champion Tulsa (6-1) has won its last four games, behind the shooting of junior guard Dante Swanson, who averages 13.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Nov. 26, Swanson also leads the team in steals with 14 and 3-pointers with 20, shooting .455 from beyond the arc. So far this season, he has led the team in scoring three times.

Tulsa, which hasn't lost on the road yet, isn't the only competitor coming to town.

Six of the tournament teams boast winning records, including Columbia and Valparaiso at 6-2.

BYUH faces Columbia tonight at the Cannon Activities Center. The Lions have been successful behind last year's Ivy League Player of the Year Craig Austin, who is averaging 17.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

But the Seasiders are ready.

"We're very confident in ourselves and in our teammates," said BYUH center Scott Salisbury, who leads the conference in rebounding, averaging 10.8 per game. "Just saying one thing and knowing you can do it, then actually doing it, are two different things. If we dedicate ourselves to doing what we need to do, we can go up against anybody."

Around the arc: After topping Lincoln (Mo.) on Tuesday, Hawai'i Pacific (5-3) faces Cal State-Dominguez Hills 7:30 p.m. today at the Blaisdell Arena. Five Sea Warriors scored in double digits in the 86-74 win. Guards Nash Subotic and Nick Spajic are leading the Sea Warriors in scoring, averaging 16 and 13.6, respectively.

Extending its winning streak to four, Chaminade (4-3) beat out Western State (Colo.), 89-75, in Gunnison, Colo., on Tuesday. It faces Northern Colorado tomorrow on the road.

With the best record among local PacWest teams, Hawai'i-Hilo (7-2) has won five on the road after defeating Potsdam State (N.Y.) on Tuesday. The Vulcans take on Cal State, Dominguez Hill on Saturday in Hilo.

Vulcan guard David LaQua was named PacWest Player of the Week, after leading UH-Hilo to a pair of victories against Lincoln and Cal State-Monterey Bay. The senior from South Dakota combined for 53 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and five steals. Against Lincoln, he scored a career-high 37 points.
