University of Hawai'i Wahine volleyball associate coach Charlie Wade has been contacted about the head coaching job at Texas Christian, but denied being offered the job.
"I wasn't really offered any job," he said. "I was asked if I was interested . . . It was just a preliminary discussion."
Wade said he met with TCU officials at the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championships.
TCU has been looking for a head coach since mid-November, when it did not renew Sandy Troudt's contract. In her six years at TCU, Troudt posted a 57-129 record. Coming off their best season at 15-18 in 2000, the Horned Frogs struggled in their first year with Conference USA, finishing at 7-21, 3-13 in the conference.
Wade joined UH's coaching staff in 1995, after serving as an assistant coach at Cal State Fullerton.
