Police plan checkpoints

Honolulu police are conducting checkpoints every night through Jan. 2 at unannounced times and locations to help deter alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers.


Roadwork to affect Fort Weaver

The state Department of Transportation says one lane of Fort Weaver Road between Geiger Road and Laulaunui Street will be closed today through Friday for road work.

A northbound lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and southbound from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., except Christmas Day.


Meals program needs helpers

Hawai'i Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver hot meals to the elderly and the disabled who are homebound.

Volunteers are needed in neighborhoods from Kalihi to Kahala.

Anyone with a car who can spare two hours on a weekday is eligible.
