Waihe'e school gets donation

WAIHE'E, Maui — Developer Everett Dowling is donating $35,000 worth of Apple computers, printers and wireless Internet service for students at Waihe'e Elementary School.

Dowling's Wailuku-based company built the second phase of Waiehu Kou II, a Department of Hawaiian Home Lands housing project that is home to many of Waihe'e School's 880 students.


More places for permits

WAILUKU, Maui — The Maui County Fire Department has increased the number of locations where fireworks permits for New Year's are being processed.

Permits are being processed during normal business hours through New Year's Eve at the Mayor Eddie Tam Memorial Gym in Makawao, the Hana and Kihei community centers, the Lahaina Civic Center, the Fire Prevention Bureau office at the Wailuku Fire Station and county parks permit offices on Moloka'i and Lana'i.
