"We're excited (about her potential)," Torero coach Mike Keeler said. "She is a very versatile athlete who could swim freestyle, breaststroke or individual medley. Her future best event is still to be determined."
Last February, Swart won state high-school championships in the 200 medley and her second straight in the 500 freestyle.
Earlier this month, in the state age-group short-course championships, Swart swam career-best times in winning the 200 individual medley (2 minutes, 6.73 seconds), 100 freestyle (52.48) and 400 medley (4:27.42) and turned a 23.79 50-yard relay leg.
She also has won league championships and state high school medals in cross-country and track distance races, and has competed in biathlons and triathlons.
BASKETBALL
Broadus signs: Rashaun Broadus, a second-team all-state player for Mililani last season, has signed a scholarship agreement to attend Western Washington University.
Broadus, a 5-11 guard, scored 80 points in four games at the Iolani Classic last week, including a high of 25.
"He's a very strong, explosive player," Vikings coach Brad Jackson said. "He has very good shooting skills and he's extremely quick. He's a quality young man who is a good fit for our program."
Western Washington is coming off the best season in school history: 27-4 and reached the final four of the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
SOCCER
Calpo to UH: Carmen Calpo, an all-state soccer attacker and league 800-meter track champion for Pearl City High, says she will attend University of Hawai'i.
She can sign a national letter of intent Feb. 6.
Calpo, O'ahu's leading scorer this season with 13 goals in four games, is expected to concentrate on soccer at UH.
"Carmen is probably at 50 percent of her potential because she constantly improves," said Pearl City coach Frank Baumholtz. "She is a totally open-minded player who is becoming a team leader because of her own confidence. She has a sense of seeing the play before it happens."
Calpo won the O'ahu Interscholastic Association 800-meter championship last May in 2 minutes, 21.22 seconds the state's fastest time in 2001.
