Palolo man held in bank robbery

A 28-year-old Palolo man arrested by police at his home on Christmas Eve is being held for questioning about a Dec. 7 bank robbery in Kapahulu.

The man was taken into custody without incident at 6 p.m. and booked for second-degree robbery. Police declined comment on evidence that led to the arrest.

The robbery occurred at the American Savings Bank branch at 737 Kapahulu Ave. The robber used a note demanding money but did not show a weapon.

Worker may have been electrocuted

Big Island police are investigating the death of a 33-year-old Hilo man whose body was found on Christmas Eve at a Hawai'i Electric Co. work site.

Joel Kudo was apparently electrocuted while replacing a chain-link fence at the electric company's Pepe'ekeo substation, police said. An aluminum ladder he was carrying apparently came into contact with a 69,000-volt electric line, officials said.

Correction: Kudo's last name was misspelled in a previous version of this story.
