Tube Notes

Tonight's Must-See

"Friends," 7 p.m., NBC. In one of its best seasons, "Friends" has found surprising humor in Rachel's pregnancy. This rerun offers a prime example. It's finally time for her to tell Ross that he's the father. Meanwhile, Joey and Phoebe scheme to get into Monica and Chandler's apartment. This is fast, funny stuff, from people who know the characters perfectly.

Of note

"Survivor: Africa," 7 p.m., CBS. Tonight, the field gets trimmed to five. That means we're only two weeks from the finale, which will take it from the final four to the $1 million winner.

"Nine Months" (1995), 7 p.m., FOX. Chris Columbus has directed some extraordinary movies, from "Home Alone" to "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." This one, alas, is only pleasant enough in a sitcom way. Hugh Grant plays an average chap whose girlfriend (Julianne Moore) is pregnant. Grant is charming, Tom Arnold is exuberant.

"2001: A Year for History," 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., History Channel. After summing up most of the year in its first half, this documentary spends the final hour on the Sept. 11 events.

"Will & Grace," 8 p.m., NBC. With Karen's husband in jail, Grace moves into the mansion. She quickly gets accustomed to luxury. Meanwhile, Eileen Brennan plays Will's outspoken acting coach.

"Pride and Prejudice," 7 p.m., A&E. Here's a fresh chance to see an acclaimed miniseries. This is the start of the three-part, six-hour Jane Austen tale.

"Just Shoot Me," 8:30 p.m., NBC. In the first half of a two-part rerun, we meet a woman (Amy Sedaris, also of "Strangers With Candy") who seems Finch-like. Finch (David Spade) claims she stalked him in school and stole his personality.

"ER," 9 p.m., NBC. Mark undergoes brain surgery. The strongest moments in this rerun, however, come from Jim Belushi as a dad wracked with guilt after a car accident.
