What's happening in the first six months of 2002

That means tossing out that dog-eared calendar and acquiring a clean, fresh one (if you didn't receive one at Christmas, now's a good time to buy one).
It's never too early to jot down key events and attractions for next year, so you aren't in Las Vegas, say, when Janet Jackson (yep, she's due for a Feb. 16 concert at Aloha Stadium) invades our shores.
Some annual events are easy to plan for, such as The Brothers Cazimero's Lei Day spectacular on May 1 at the Waikiki Shell. Same time, same place.
But other events such as the 50th State Fair opens its run on May 24 at Aloha Stadium and runs weekends and holidays through June 16. And the Hawai'i International Film Festival's Spring Film Festival runs April 19-24. Now you know.
This year, we've tweaked our 2002 planner to give it a split personality. It might be easier to navigate, because we've assembled events only for the first six months of the year. Later, we'll cough up the rest of the season, including Christmas events.
Hope yours is an event-full year.
