Chad Kalilimoku, one of the top linebackers in junior college football, today accepted a football scholarship from the University of Hawai'i.

Kalilimoku, a 1999 Roosevelt High graduate, played this past season at Santa Ana (community) College in California.

Earlier this month, he was named to the J.C. Grid Wire All-America second team. He can bench press 225 pounds 33 times and squat lift 680 pounds.

The 6-foot, 235-pound Kalilimoku also received scholarship offers from the University of Southern California, Louisiana State University and the University of Utah.

Kalilimoku will sign a national letter of intent Feb. 6, the first day of the second-semester signing period. He will earn an associate degree in May, and have two years to play two season for the Warriors.

Kalilimoku was a high school teammate of UH football players Chad Owens and Chad Kapanui.
