Fire destroys home on Big Island

Fire destroyed a Big Island home in Kea'au Friday afternoon.
Ten fire units responded to the 4:54 p.m. alarm at Lehua Street in Hawaiian Fern Acres, but the two-story house was engulfed in flames when they arrived.
No one was injured. It took more than an hour to bring the fire under control, and four hours to extinguish the blaze.
Damage to the home and storage shed is estimated at $250,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
