Throughout July, the Honolulu Zoo offers programs, such as "Breakfast Behind the Scenes," in which participants have the chance to shadow zookeepers and take a backstage tour of the zoo. The zoo also offers all-day "vacation adventures" each week for kids 5 through 12, which features a safari as well as animal-inspired games and art activities.
Programs range from $10 to $195, with discounts for Honolulu Zoological Society members. Information, 926-3191. The Honolulu Zoo features more than 1,250 animals and 3,000 different species. The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for Christmas and New Year's Day.
