Autopsy report on Palolo man pending

Homicide investigators today were awaiting autopsy results on a Palolo Valley man found dead in his home on Saturday.

Police initially called the case a "suspicious, unattended death" investigation when they examined the home. The autopsy will determine the cause of death. Police said the man had suffered injuries to his upper body.

The body was found at 3404 Kupa'a Drive by police officers who were checking the man's home at the request of his friend.

The friend routinely had daily telephone conversations with the man but had not heard from him since the previous Sunday.

Officers called detectives after discovering the man near the front of his house in his living room.

Woman charged in Chinatown restaurant stabbing

Police have charged a 37-year-old woman who was accused of stabbing a restaurant customer in Chinatown on May 6.

Police charged Patricia J. Soares on Sunday with attempted second-degree murder, third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $85,000.

According to police, a woman was standing in line and talking with a friend at the Royal Kitchen restaurant at River Street Mall when Soares allegedly stabbed her and fled.

Police said Soares thought that the victim was making fun of her. The victim was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in stable condition.
