Teenage classical singer will perform at Blaisdell

Charlotte Church, the teen phenomenon from Wales who became the youngest artist ever to have a No. 1 album on the British classical charts and the youngest to have a Top 5 hit on the British album charts, will make her Honolulu Symphony concert debut at 8 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Blaisdell Arena.

Her 1998 debut album, "Voice of an Angel," released when she was just 11, has earned her the nickname Angel, and the soprano has astonished critics and fans alike with her charismatic artistry.
Classical singer Charlotte Church will perform with the Honolulu Symphony.
Church, who now is 15, will join maestro Samuel Wong and the local orchestra in her Island debut. Her CD, "Angel," has been certified gold and she has appeared on every TV show imaginable, from "Late Night With David Letterman" to "Tonight With Jay Leno," from "Regis and Kathie Lee" to "Rosie O'Donnell," from "Good Morning America" to "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
Anticipating an enthusiastic crowd, the symphony is opting for the larger arena in place of the usual concert hall.
Tickets: $65 for main floor, risers, loge and lower arena seating, $45 for upper arena seating; on sale at 9 a.m. this Saturday at the symphony box office or Ticket Plus outlets, including the Blaisdell box office, Foodland Super Markets, Tempo Music and military locations.
