WILLIAM C. HARR, a World War II pilot and former national commodore of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, will be remembered by friends and family Friday at a "celebration of life" at his Honolulu home. See story.

CAROLYN HICKS, co-founder of Hicks Homes, where the idea of "building on your own lot" originated in Hawai'i, died Friday at Ann Pearl Nursing Facility. She was 83. See story.

CONCETTA J. RICCIO of Mililani, a local garden club pioneer and environmental enthusiast, died June 1 after a five-year battle with lung cancer. She was 79. See story.

ARTHUR YOSHINORI AKINAKA, 92, of Honolulu, died June 22, 2001. Born in Honolulu. A retired consulting civil engineer.
