HomeLife says it will shut down
Advertiser Staff
HomeLife Furniture Corp., the eighth-largest U.S. furniture retailer, announced today that it is shutting down for financial reasons.
The privately held company, formerly owned by Sears, Roebuck and Co., did not issue a formal explanation for the closure. But recent financing problems had caused some furniture manufacturers to stop shipments.
HomeLife Furniture operates more than 130 stores in 26 states. In Hawai'i, it has one freestanding store in Pearl City. Telephone calls to several HomeLife stores across the country rang unanswered. Officials at the Pearl City store could not be reached this morning.
