LOCAL INTEREST: "Na Mele: Traditions in Hawaiian Song," 7:30 p.m. PBS. This program, which repeats at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, features Jerry Santos and Friends. Santos performs solo and in trio with his longtime bassist, Wally Suenaga, and with Bryan Tolentino on 'ukulele. As half of the popular group Olomana, Santos has been at the forefront of the fusion style, "Island contemporary."

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE: "Night Visions" premiere, 7-9 p.m., FOX. By now some viewers might be weary of being tantalized by "The X-Files" and other shows. Each one keeps promising answers and conclusions — then falls short. The solution is a return to the anthology days of "Twilight Zone." In 30 minutes, a show can spin a fascinating tale, complete with a beginning and end. That's the format here with Henry Rollins — the buff and beefy singer-actor — introducing a new story each half-hour. The opening tale has Aidan Quinn as a federal investigator, obsessed with the crash that killed his estranged daughter. Now he meets a strange woman (Kelly Rutherford) and is propelled into stranger events. It's a fairly good story, boosted by the superb work of gifted French-Canadian director Yves Simoneau. More episodes follow starring Samantha Mathis, Lou Diamond Phillips and Gil Bellows; next week, the show reverts to a weekly hour.

"Friends," 7 p.m., NBC. In a funny rerun, Ross' son picks up bad habits after spending time with Rachel.

"Big Brother 2," 7 p.m., CBS. Tonight, for the first time, we'll see the housemates — not the viewers — vote someone out. Let's hope they don't just repeat viewers' habit of simply evicting the most interesting person each week.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. A young woman, left for dead, remains alive.

"Mystery," 8 p.m., PBS. Here's a relatively weak round of the Hetty Wainthropp stories. Tonight, Hetty probes what seems to be a teen arsonist.

"AMC Live: The Hollywood Auction," 3 p.m., AMC. As part of AMC's Film Preservation Festival, the network combines with the Internet in an auction to raise money for the preservation of old films. Auction items range from the classic (the lion costume from "The Wizard of Oz") to the new (Wilson, the tattered ball used in the raft scenes of "Cast Away"). Also included are clothes worn by Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Brandon Lee, plus several things worn by John Wayne.

"The Hunt," 7 p.m., A&E. After watching "CSI," some viewers might want to catch this five-week British documentary about real crimesolvers. The first hour looks at attempts to create personality profiles of serial killers.
