Jellyfish warning issued for weekend

Advertiser Staff

The Ocean Safety Division has issued a box jellyfish warning for tomorrow and Sunday on Ala Moana Beach Park and Waikiki Beach.

Other areas that may be affected include Hanauma Bay, Pokai Bay and Makaha.

The influx is expected to peak this weekend, with most of the jellyfish dpearting by July 17.

Lifeguards will assess the beaches for jellyfish and post warning signs if necessary.

If you are stung by a jellyfish, flush the area with copious amounts of vinegar and seek medical attention if pain persists.

Lifeguard stations are also equipped to treat jellyfish stings.
