Fun House
Learning the alphabet, mountain-style

By Johnelle Tabion
'Aiea resident

On a recent trip to Maui, my 7-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son and I were travelling through Lahaina. As we drove through the town, my son noticed the large letter "L" on the mountainside. Quickly my son shouted, "L, Mommy, L!"

"Yes," I said proudly, "that's right."

As we continued our drive, I noticed him intently searching the mountainside. After a couple of minutes passed, he looked puzzled.

"What's the matter?" I said.

In confusion, he replied, "Mommy, where are the rest of the letters?"
