Achievers

Erin Malia Fowler of Kihei, Maui, a graduate of the University of California-Santa Barbara, received the Thomas More Storke Award, presented annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated courage, persistence and outstanding scholarship and service to the university, its students and the community.

John McCarley, a graduate of Radford High, received a $600 scholarship from the Automotive Oil Change Association.

Dr. Christopher A. Neal, a neuroradiologist at Maui Memorial Medical Center, was awarded the Stanford University Medical Center's Visiting Clinical Faculty Teaching Award for 2000-2001.

The Nasdaq Educational Foundation and the National Council on Economic Education named Richard Rankin, a high school teacher at Iolani School, the Grand Winner of the Nasdaq National Teaching Awards at a ceremony in April in New York.

The following teachers received community-sponsored scholarships to participate in the 2001 Hawai'i Space Grant College's Future Flight Hawai'i residential programs: Jade Bowman of Waimea Intermediate, $400; Laurie Botelho of Kalaniana'ole Intermediate, $400; Teri Lynn Ono of Kalaniana'ole Elementary, $300; Rowena Acierto of Kalihi-Kai Elementary, $500; Tammy Doan of Wai'alae Elementary, $500; Karen Ng of Kalihi-Uka Elementary, $500.

Student recipients of scholarships for the Future Flight Hawai'i programs are: Sara Karr of Waiakea Intermediate, $590; and Cramer Wong, Marc Noda, Auston Goya and Javan Villegas, all of Kane'ohe Elementary, $300 each.

The following high school graduates received President's Scholarships from Hawai'i Pacific University for 2001-2002:
