The Left Lane
Fourth 'Fantasy'

"Final Fantasy" got hijacked by a blonde, a tough guy and some felines and canines.

Despite media buzz, the animated sci-fi adventure, "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within," came in fourth in ticket sales over the weekend.

"Legally Blonde," a light-hearted comedy-romance about a not-so-dumb blonde dominated movie ticket sales Friday through Sunday. Robert De Niro's "The Score" and the animated feature "Cats & Dogs" were the second and third top-grossing films this past weekend.

Here's the complete top 10, with the take for the weekend: 1. "Legally Blonde," $20.4 million; 2. "The Score," $19 million; 3. "Cats & Dogs," $12 million; 4. "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within," $11.5 million; 5. "Scary Movie 2," $9.5 million; 6. "The Fast and the Furious," $7.8 million; 7. "Dr. Dolittle 2," $7 million; 8. "Kiss of the Dragon," $5.8 million; 9. "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," $5.1 million; 10. "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider," $4 million.

WILSON: May perform at the Shell.
Wouldn't it be nice?

Wanna see Brian Wilson in concert at the Waikiki Shell? Put out some good vibrations that he'll sign a contract with promoter Tom Moffatt, who's tempting the former lead singer of the Beach Boys with a September show under the stars.

A representative from Wilson's management group said the singer would stop here on his way back from Japan, but without Paul Simon, with whom he recently was featured in "A Salute to Brian Wilson." However his 10-piece band, the group that performed with Simon and others in "A Salute to Brian Wilson," will come along.

We're told he may decide to perform the entire "Pet Sounds" album. If all's a go, tickets will go on sale mid-August, Moffatt said.
