American adds L.A.-Hawai'i flights

Advertiser Staff

American Airlines said it will add two daily nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Hawai'i this fall.

American will add a third daily nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Honolulu on Oct. 1 and a second daily nonstop between Los Angeles and Maui on Nov. 1.

The Fort Worth-based airline also said it will take over from TWA a daily nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Kailua-Kona on Sept. 5 as part of American's purchase of TWA, completed in April.

American said it will use 176-seat Boeing 757 aircraft for the flights.

"Year in and year out, the islands are always one of our most popular destinations," said Henry Joyner, American's senior vice president for planning. "Our customers will really be excited about these additional opportunities to fly to Hawai'i."

Joyner said the additional Honolulu and Maui flights would give American 12 flights a day between Hawai'i and the Mainland.
